Its not exactly open season on BA. You still have to have a Ukraine/Israel etc address.

TBH does it really matter if a few people con their way into BA Gold? If they're not travelling much on BA then they're not going to get in the way. If they are travelling, then BA have earnt their custom we should be happy that its putting money in BA coffers.
