I believe it's the other way around... in England, my friend put in petrol in a diesel Skoda TDi and only a drain of the tank was required. The motor simply stopped.
If a petrol nozzle fits in diesel, but not the other way around - I'm inclined to believe diesel in petrol causes far more damage.
