I agree, almost without exception. The one single codeshare that worked for me in the past is NW/KL. The two airlines' systems were sufficiently integrated that the operating airline took care of me as if I were on their ticket. (I suspect that something like LH/LX might be OK, too.)
Now that DL has taken over NW, I don't know whether things would still work as smoothly.
all it takes is for someone to take charge - and i have to say US has done a good job. UA wishy washy......
The worst I experience was AC/BR.... BR said AC doesnt have access to their detailed inventory and they were oversold yet AC still selling tickets while AC said they cannot explain why BR would upgrade a SSWU/SWU (when specifically the cert says for AC metal only) but not accomodate a Z ticket or J reward AE ticket that was booked in Y and requested upgrade way in advance..... (permitted back in 2007)
hopefully with the *A booking class realignment the entire alliance would be speaking the same language
