I agree, if you stay flexible on dates you shouldn't have a problem. I have always got the AA awards I wanted, no matter when I was traveling, by being willing to move my dates a day or two in either direction. With AA, you just don't hear the same horror stories ("Sorry, we have no tix to any European destination for the months of May through September") that you do with, for example, DL.
