When looking at the options for booking hotels in Thailand I noticed that hotels are about 30% more miles using MP than Skymiles! The weird thing is they seem to use exactly the same system, but MP has much worse rates.

In addition, you can easily add money with Skymiles if you are missing miles, e.g. I had to add $7 for 700 miles - a rate of 1cent per mile, which is much better than their normal purchase rate of 2.8 cents per mile.
