A recent observation:
Two parents with two children flying LAX-JFK on Delta in F. They purchase three seats, with the infant as a lap child. As the flight is boarding, the toddler throws a tantrum about how she doesn't want to sit next to the infant. So then the father and the toddler sit next to each other in one row, while the mother sits with the baby in another row (subjecting a stranger to being next to a lap child).
In the middle of the flight, the baby's diaper needs to be changed. She gets up and finds the F lavatory does not have a changing table. (No attempt to check any of the other lavatories or ask about them, or "make do" in the F lavatory by putting down the toilet seat, etc). So then she precedes to change the baby's diaper on the floor in front of the father's seat, partly sticking out into the aisle. It is a smelly diaper and the other passengers are all looking at her. She then approaches the front of the plane, but the captain is using the restroom and it is blocked by a beverage cart. Then the mother tries to shove the dirty diaper (not in a plastic bag, just loose) into the FA's hands (as the FA stood in the galley). The FA jumps back and refuses to take it. The mother then walks back to the mid-cabin galley and stuffs the dirty diaper (still unwrapped) into a cart (hopefully a trash cart, not a beverage cart).
Am I wrong to think the parents were totally self-centered and inconsiderate? It was actually a very sweet baby which was relatively quiet, by the way.
