I take this flight a lot. The answer to the AVOD question is complex. During this time of year the aircraft is an Airbus 340, which at the minimum has an on demand system. I am not sure if all the 340s have the expanded version that offers a choice of around 80 movies. The expanded version is ok. Often the system locks up and you can't watch anything.

During the summer months the a/c is a 747. Most of the 747s have a really old, pathetic IFE system which is not on demand and offers a choice of about 5 films that run on continuous loops. This system is truly awful. A disgrace in fact. Then to add insult to injury, the arm rests on the seats of these aircraft have holes cut into them, making it uncomfortable to rest ones elbow. UGH.

The biggest problem with AF 84 is that even in the best of times it leaves late--generally 20-30 minutes or so. Now it is running at least an hour late every day.
