I stayed there recently too, and the problems far exceed the windows:
Inadequate heating system. Winter coats, hats and gloves were needed in the lobby and atrium areas. Keeping heat set at 90 degrees throughout my stay would only raise the room temperature to 70 in the warmest spot. (My travel alarm clock has a digital thermometer.) Very cold and drafty within 8 feet of windows, so that desk and sofa area could not be used.
Lack of towels in the room. Calling three times (at 4, 5, and 7 pm) regarding finding only one medium sized and two small towels in my room upon arrival resulted in medium and small towels being delivered at 1 am and WAKING ME UP then despite my do not disturb sign since 11 pm. I only received the large Westin bath towel 48 hours later when I used the words "brand standard" to the front desk manager. They also tried to skimp on soap and toiletries. In fact, the front desk manager tried to tell me that the rule had been changed to one soap and then changed his mind and quickly admitted that it had changed back to two when he saw the outraged look on my face.
Awakened (despite do not distrub sign) at 8 am on Sunday morning by a request to admit maintenance, although the person told me that this could be delayed for my convenience AFTER WAKING ME UP. The maintenance person said that the issue should have been reported by housekeeping and fixed before my arrival. Left a small mess in my bathtub.
The condition of the hallways on my SPG floor looked like a slum. An old battered refrigerator stood outside my door for more than a day. Old food and trash sat in the hallways. Walls had some unpainted plywood strips nailed on. Most of the doors to rooms were defaced and vandalized. It looked like criminals have been breaking in regularly; the damage to door frames near the locks was extensive on some rooms.
No real restaurant in the hotel; when making my reservation, I noted the reopening date on the website and telephoned the property to verify that the top level restaurant and lounge would indeed by open by January but upon arrival it became obvious that there's no opening date in sight.
At times the lobby and atrium areas were filled with perhaps a thousand teenagers who were not hotel guests. One evening it took fifteen minutes to push my way from the entrance to the elevators. On Sunday morning, an employee advised me not to even try to leave the hotel as some huge church service was scheduled in the ballroom. Maybe these events are profitable, but such crowds shouldn't be allowed to disturb and inconvenience the regular overnight guests.
Most of the staff seemed nice, but I would advise anyone to avoid staying here for the indefinite future. The hotel fails to meet Westin standards in many dimensions.
