Bit of detail...
My partner (who doesn't have a mobile) has just met up with his son to be told that his Dad is okay which he didn't know for the 4 hours he was on a train and they are now hurtling across London not to look him as they feared but to try and say good-bye before his flights leaves at 1535.
I add these details for those have followed this story and supported us, we are a real family like any other, not hoaxers, now very relieved. I'd never used a forum before and it has been a real comfort, and I want to say that...
...although his holiday ended like this I have a feeling that Grandpa Bob had a great old time in the UK and will have a lot of other much better tales and yarns to spin than this one. Soonest forgotten...unlike his other UK adventures...going on walks in beautiful Northumberland, going to a pantomine, jamming with Nina's family, the footie (yes yes even Newcastle United!), visiting his roots in Glasgow, a cottage in Yorkshire, going to parties and meeting new folk, Christmas dinner, scraping our steps free of snow on a daily basis (okay maybe not such a hightlight!), quiz nights, card games, crumpets (though not as many as maybe he hoped) etc etc. For many reasons we'll never forget this Christmas!
