I forgot to say you need to earn
full tier points.
He should have received an email a day or so after registering with the subject: "Make the most of your Executive Club membership"
It says: "We want you to enjoy your first reward flight as soon as possible so to help you get started, we'll give you 5,000 bonus BA Miles when you take a flight earning full Tier Points within your first two months of membership."
