Thanks for all the information. I finally tried the new Y seat flying from SIN to HKG yesterday!

Seriously the seat itself is the most uncomfortable Y seat I have ever taken, and I'm only 5'11''. Thank god I was only traveling with this crappy seat for less than 4 hrs. I cannot even imagine how people can bear 12-15 hours long haults. There are what I dislike about the seat:

1) Although the seat cushion slided forward and the seatback cushion slided downward, I still did not feel the seatback was "really" reclined. The recline of the new seat is a cheat!

2) The fold-in "wings" for the headrest (for head lateral support) are too short and the distance between the 2 wings is also too narrow (my head is not big though). Even I folded in the wings all the way toward my face, my head still dropped out when I felt asleep, and I guess it is also due to lacking of seatback recline.

3) I didn't feel like I was seating in a traditional solid seat. I felt like like I was seating in a plastic shell with couple of thin movable cushions.

4) There is a big empty space in between the headrest and the seatback cushion when the seat is "reclined". The headrest cannot be slided down or up.

5) The shell is very thin; I could feel the passenger behind me using his knees pushing/resting against the back of my seat. I felt like I was seating in a Osim massage chair with my lowerback being massaged (by his knees)! I wanted to ask him to stop but I choose not to since it was a short hault, so I didn't want to create a scene.

Now CX is no longer on my choice of airlines unless I fly in C or if I am sure the flight has the old seats in Y.
