And I think we're getting to the core issue here: what, exactly, you've been instructed to do.
If you had been told "while you're searching, report any evidence of illegal activity", without specifying what, exactly, constitutes "illegal activity", then there would be very little issue here. Like the person on the street, you'd simply be using your best judgment, leaving the matter for LEOs to handle.
But, as I understand it, that's not what's going on here. You've been told "while you're searching, report any evidence of
the following types of illegal activity: [insert list here]". That creates a different situation; you've been specifically directed to pay attention to certain types of illegal activity that are outside the scope of TSA's mandate to search for WEIs --- even if only in a secondary manner. I'm not a lawyer ... but I can see how this could create interesting Fourth Amendment issues.
