Does anyone know what effect this might have on the current arrangement. I have always liked the mini-cabin feel of row 8 and would like to reschedule accordingly if the changes (reduction of 5 current Business Class seats) might have a negative effect.

My opinion is that very few (if any) 777s will be converted by your May travel date, so you don't have to "worry" about having new config seats.
