If that's the case, then all those people pulling Gold from Amex EQM offers have a tax bill coming?
I'd use the $1800 to get to Gold the old-fashioned way, as that would give you the EQMs for real,
and the RDMs. And if you are gifted Gold, and you want Plat... you're flying 75k the old-fashioned way.
Now... if they were winning 50k EQM, and
not GM (
GM being the benefit, and the EQM being the prize), I'd have to think about it.
