Probably already in the thread somewhere, but I just opened my account today and thought I would share my experience so far.

I printed the coupon and went over to the local Chase branch. I was lucky since I am just in the USA for another 10 days (live in Thailand, keep my local address here) and it was a quick 5 minute drive to the branch. Took in the coupon and the banker said she had seen 1 before (only 1!) but knew how it worked. The deal for me was open the basic checking that has the $25 annual fee and offers 1 mile for ever $2 spent. There is also a $6 monthly fee that is waived if you make 5 debit purchases (not sure if that is with/without pin) or a recurring $100 direct deposit. As far as I know there is no minimum balance requirement but they would probably nail you for any overdraft events, even if it were a result of the monthly fee.

She entered my OP number and the coupon code, then printed my receipt. I opted to pay $5 to get the debit card in 2 business days rather than the 5-6 that she said was free. I did not order any checks, but that would have cost an extra $20 or so for the basic ones. She then showed me how the online banking worked and my balance at that time said -$5 from the debit card fee since she hadn't put in the $100 yet. The rewards also didn't appear with the OnePass info, apparently this was still updating. I can understand that, but I did make sure to re-verify my 10,000 and 15,000 miles receipts at that time!

Overall it took about 25 minutes and she entered everything directly into the computer so I didn't have to go through the process of handwriting an application first, etc. Then I had to meet every manager in the bank and their brothers, so that added another 15 minutes. But overall very friendly experience and pretty easy for 25k miles.
