I'm just very glad that Air New Zealand flies out of Vancouver, so I can avoid a connection in eithe LAX or SFO.

Last year when I went I did connections in LHR and SIN to avoid the US. Depending upon the connections, the flying time ended up being very close to flying over the pacific. Obviously now with the direct flights to either Sydney or Auckland from YVR its much quicker to go over the pacific.
