I was thinking about doing it through MEX, who also has a 747 service (albeit not daily) but the cost to get a flight from MEX to SJO is outrageous--twice the cost of a flight from JFK, which is twice as long a flight (over 7 hours flight)! I can't find any CW availability into/out of MIA at the moment in May (though it does seem to be changing daily now).
