Smile Do UK/ US Sales ever overlap ?

I am an expat based in San Francisco, ( Mendocino coast to be precise ). My mother is ill and I will be visiting the UK. ( Manchester ) at least 2-3 times a year.

I was looking at the UK sales, and I am considering making 2 return bookings, but doing it in reverse so I still end UP in SFO
.

Booking LHR - SFO WT+ ( around $1300 R/T , on sale right now )

leaving LHR in , early June and returning from LHR early October,

and then booking SFO - LHR WT+ ( when the sales start....if possible . )

Leaving SFO late May and Leaving LHR late October.
( around $1400 now , CW with MFU ).

I can only spend a couple of weeks for each trip , but I am flexible with the dates. I should be silver by May so lounge access ect... is not an issue.

I have miles so I would like to upgrade to CW on all legs ( can you do that with a sale fare ? ).

I can stand WT+ but prefer CW.
( I've done my time ,I spent 25yrs in economy )

Have you ever done this ?

Apart from the possibility of BA going out of business can you see a downside ?

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Mick
