Thanks for all the good suggestions. I've been on the phone with the agents and apparently there's not even coach seats available to to many destinations that would require transfer via JHB, bangkok, DPS, HKG. I've even tried to get seats to Europe and even thats far stretched with 2 stops between JFK and NICE. Guess its a lot harder redeem miles nowadays esp in prime season.
