May not be too bad an idea if it's just for a day or two. On-street parking is possible to find but less likely nearer d/t/CdV hotels.

Fuel stations between CdV and YUL aren't that easy to find unless you know where they are.

As for driving, I guess if you have driven around metro NYC and ubran France, it's no problem in Montreal.
