"U" class is the bucket used for MFU's and award space in Club World, not Club Europe.
Upgraded short haul flights normally drop into an I or C bucket, for which you do get TPs and miles.

Bahrain Lad is correct when he says if you've not paid for the upgrade (ie. paid with miles not cash) or been upgraded involuntarily at the airport then you wouldn't get miles under those circumstances.
