Unless the holidays have slowed down postings, the AGR points will likely be in your account by now (or by Monday morning). You can certainly ask CO if they will reverse that transfer, but I don't know if that will be possible.

Assuming you end up with 70K AGR points...
Even if you get the AGR card and meet the $200 requirement on Amtrak travel spend for outbound transfers, you will still only be able to transfer 25K miles to 75K Choice points in calendar year 2010. 75K Choice points would get you 15K AA miles, subject to Choice's restriction on non-hotel redemptions that you have either stayed at a Choice property or made a Choice Visa purchase since 1/1/08.

There are plenty of ways to use Amtrak points other than for train trips, however, so all is not completely lost. You could get $700 in gift cards for a variety of retailers, for example.

Lowe's, CVS, and Staples are among the options. Some of those stores offer other stores' gift cards in their own stores, so you could perhaps even get something more to your liking that way (are any airline gift cards available via that route? I am not sure.)

EDIT: I did find a reference online that AA gift cards are available at CVS, so you might be able to redeem 70K Amtrak points for $700 in CVS gift cards and then redeem those CVS gift cards for $700 in AA gift cards.
