If the OP can get the Chase/Amtrak Guest Rewards M/C (no annual fee), and then charge (and take) $200 worth of Amtrak travel, he should then be able to transfer at least some of his AGR points out to Choice, Continental, etc. Failing that, I believe that the AGR points can only be redeemed for things that do not require conversion to other FF currencies. I know that a variety of gift cards is available, some hotel-night redemptions, etc.

For future reference, I believe that MR points can be converted to Mexicana Frecuenta points, which can be redeemed for flights on AA. (Not sure what the Frecuenta rate is for AA flights between the U.S. and Europe.) I think that MR points can also be transferred to Iberia's FF program, and then redeemed for AA flights as well.
