Alright, I wasn't sure where to post this, but since I'm ultimately trying to get AAdvantage points, I figured I'd start here. Moderators---please feel free to move to a more appropriate forum if this isn't the place.
I know I messed up here, and I know that AmEx isn't the most friendly with American Airlines, but I'm still trying anyways.
So here's the deal. I had about 70,000 points on my AmEx Gold card. I need a ticket to go from ORD to CDG in April. I found the site
www.webflyer.com and it said that I could do this
Amex ---> CoAir OnePass
CoAir OnePass ---> Amtrak Guest Rewards
Amtrak Guest Rewards ---> Choice Hotels
Choice Hotels ---> AAdvantage
I guess I thought because I had such a large sum of points that I would automatically have the required status to go from Amtrak to Choice Hotels just fine. But I obviously was wrong. I know, I should have read more closely.
So, basically, I'm wondering if I've completely lost these points, or if there's a way I can salvage this somehow. I suppose last resort, I could just transfer them all back to CoAir and go on a different flight than the other people I was supposed to take the trip with, but I'd like to try and somehow get these points over to AAdvantage.
As it stands, I will have 70,000 points in my Amtrak Guest rewards as of tomorrow.
I apologize in advance, and thank you in advance too.
