My questions for the Experts; Family Account, 2-4-1's, Tesco, flying for work...

Hi,

I have a few questions, some of which are completely different to each other, and some will have already been answered here before. However as there is a few, some of which are very important to me -i thought i would be greedy and house them all in one thread:

1) I am going to open BAEC accounts for my family members, and then create a HHA so i can enjoy there miles earned, and also be sneaky and take advantage of BA Airmiles current double miles bonus with Tesco(discussed later)

My question is, several of my family members will be booking TATL flights soon. Now i know this a silly question, but how do i assign there flights to there BAEC account if they have not provided there BAEC # at time of booking?? This also leads on to my next question...

2) This year i am going to start flying with work, this is new to me. It will be domestics only, although some may be on BA. I am sure the department at my job who takes care of travel will know the answer, however before i ask them -i thought i would seek advice here. They will book the flight in my name, so how do i assign my BAEC number of this to view it online and more importantly earn miles/status??

3) Referring back to the HHA before, the reason i never considered creating one before was because most, if not all of my BA miles will be used for reward flights with a 2-4-1 i have earned on my Amex, or even 2 x 2-4-1's -and i am uncertain who the lucky reciprocants of these rewards flights would be. I was under the impression that if in a HHA only those part of it could fly on redemptions however this is not the case i have read, and the companion of a 2-4-1 redemption does not have to be part of the HHA. I have also read that if i am making a redemption for 4 pax with 2 of my 2-4-1's then the 3 companions do not have to be part of the HHA. However this has not been confirmed and as i have a 2 x 2-4-1 redemption in the pipeline for 2011, i have to be sure that the HHA will not restrict who the companions of said redemption will be. I will call BAEC about this eventually, however i am one for reassurance so thought i would ask you all also.

4) As discussed above, another reason for my creating and joining of a HHA is to take advantage of the current BA miles double bonus with Tesco. I myself, having already converted clubcard vouchers to BA miles can not benefit from this promo.... However my Mother can. She has a Tesco account in her name, and will soon have a BAEC account. We live at the same address and therefore i can convert my clubcard vouchers through her tesco account(i have in the past used her cc vouchers to convert through my account for BA miles), and as its a Tesco account thats never converted to BA miles before, to a BAEC thats never had a clubcard conversion either -my Mum(& essentially me), will earn the double miles bonus. I think there is no issue, however like before if anyone can offer assurance of there views on this than do tell.

5) Airmiles.co.uk..... im also starting to collect these. Now i know some domestic flights can earn miles. However what about long haul BA redemptions? -can they be mile earning also? I am sure someb ody here has said there is a way that you can see what flights would be eligible for BAEC miles before booking -is this the case? I have also heard you can earn DC miles(star alliance) if a flight is on one of there carriers, althought these are rare. Ill be gathering quite a few of these also so im trying to swot up, love the idea of earning miles, even status on completely free flights. As above, how is it you would assign your BAEC or DC number to a flight booked through airmiles??

Thanks for taking the time to read all of this, i know i repeat myself and ask questions where i amost answer my self -its lack of confidence and hearing the answers from some of the many knowledgeable people here(Raffles etc) really gives me a greater understanding and assurance.

Cheers,
Paul.
