We have done this route in emirates economy but managed to get emergency exit seats all bits of the journey and it was not bad at all.
Obviously with WT+ you will be getting the extra legroom, we are travelling there in club in 3 weeks time but I honestly wouldn't hesitate to do the journey in WT+ on another occasion.
If you do upgrade I would definitely do it in the overnight segment as then you arrive more refreshed, the airport at the maldives has enough shops etc to while away an hour and the seaplanes don't drop you there with loads of time to spare, plus I have read somewhere that the club lounge is not that great.
