So it's similar at many LCCs then - I know quite a few non-BA crew who feed their crew sandwiches to stray animals because they are not fit for human consumption. Some airlines even charge for crew's instant coffee.

Yes, once the service is over, then if there is anything left then we are able to have something. Also, all soft drinks onboard we are able to have if we want. On routes that sell duty free alcohol, we are also able to purchase items, alcoholic and non, from the bars onboard to take home or have down route if we choose. Hence, why you will sometimes see crew putting things in their bags. We are not "helping our self" to things, we have paid for them.
I've never noticed the crew putting things in their bags, but I guess it's a good system (especially if the crew can get some discount).

Anyway, thank you BingBongBoy for enlightening me with the info. I assumed that BA SH cabin crew would at least be fed something half decent on one of the sectors. How wrong I was! I must admit I feel sad that BA SH cabin crew don't get fed as well as I believe they should be.
