You would have had the same problem if you had switched to QF. Qantas and BA have the same rule in that a business class passenger is permitted access but no guests. BA/QF will allow a 1st class passenger to take 1 guest in
I know airlines which do have a rule limiting business class lounge access to passenger only, but none that state that they do allow guests. Which ones do have a policy permitting guests ( excluding of course access via status - such as a OW Sapphire member using an OW lounge )
