I do this from time to time. Google DL XYZ where XYZ is your flight # and the first response is usually from flightrack.com. They have a moving map that updates automatically and you can overlay radar to see what storms you might fly through.

If I see that we will be flying over a storm system I use the restroom before the seatbelt sign comes on a few minutes later.

Listening to ATC.net I have heard our clearance to begin descent and a few seconds later we did. Very cool.
