I have status matched to BD Gold several times, so I guess they don't mind you being cheeky. It may help I have earned it for a few years too but don't know.
My assistant always helps me to do it because then I don't moan if she books me on BD. I guess that is why BMI do it and it clearly works as they get more flights from me because of the match.
