Did a four night stay over Christmas.
The staff were well trained , friendly, accomodating and extremely helpful, as always.
Room : crammy and showing its age. We had a family room, which consisted of a grand deluxe connected to an extremely tiny annex housing 2 single beds put together. The sitting area was also very small, and there was hardly enough space for our family of four to move about. My last stay with this property was about 3-4 years ago and boy, it certainly have aged. THis was, however, my first stay there as a family and on retrospect, I think I should have booked two interconnecting grand deluxe at the front tower instead of settling for the family "suite".
Club lounge : very nicely rennovated since my last visit. Refreshment and snacks were tasty and of substantial variety. The breakfast, though, was a little disappointing. They only offered two hot dishes, a scrambled egg and another dish which was baked beans/hot dog. I guess we must have been spoilt rotten by the many other resorts and hotels in Asia. The staff, though , were top notched, always smiling, even on the explosively busy Christmas morning; remembered us all by our names; saved my girl her favorite croissont on the morning that we got up late and almost missed our breakfast.
one note: the wireless connection is only good in the lounge on the 21st floor, no connection was possible on the 22nd.
We also witnessed a very interesting incident on Christmas Eve.It was near closing hour of the club and there were just two staff sitting with the three of us in the 'computer lounge' on the 22nd floor when out of the blue moon, a lady in her fifties came out donning a shower cap, bath robe, slippers (I had to convince my kids it wasn't Santa visiting, cos the cap wasn't red)and started yelling at the top of her lungs that there was AGAIN, no hot water from her shower. So user beware, there might be just one or two faulty faucets in the club rooms.
Restaurants: We ate at Mezza 9 on Christmas Eve and Straits Kitchen the next day. Mezza offers international cuisine while Straits local food. Both were fantastic, very good value for money.
Pool : hardly resort styled but of a good size.Water ice cold but the kids in the pool didn't seem to mind. There were some very nice cabanas (3, to be exact) at the far end.
