Just following up on the speculation about possibly dehubbing CVG. Presumably, there are efficiencies to be gained by operating fewer hubs. Not saying it will happen, but between the free CO gates at DTW and additional capacity from MSP and MEM, there may sufficient space to absorb the remaining CVG flights.
Okay, but what makes DTW more attractive than MEM/MSP/JFK/ATL? (Forget beauty which is only on the surface)
Given that travel is down, all hubs are down and have potential surplus capacity. Why not absorb it on an interim basis at hub XYX and if traffic returns in a year or two re-think it at that time? Other than being nice, which does nothing to the bottom line or network efficiency, why DTW when the DTW economic engine is also way down?
