FWIW I topped up yesterday hoping it would appear as 2009 - preparing for HMRC payments in January. The amount is already in the account but showing as 2010 (so I may have to use a debit card to pay some of the tax, but that's my fault for not making the transfer sooner).

This has showed up much earlier than previous top-ups, so it does seem that things run smoothly after a while.
