Unfortunately, Verizon has the best coverage within the U.S. both for voice and data and, particularly, in the areas that I work.
It seems to me that you got your Blackberry replaced AND unlocked - so what's the problem? It just took them a bit of time to diagnose the problem with the phone.
What's the problem? Perhaps you accept rudeness and insults from your service provider. I don't.
Your Motorola phone is unlocked, too. What's the problem?
I'm curious -- how do you define, "customer support"? Does it include providing
accurate information?
It's ALWAYS better to Google something before calling customer service for anything involving a technology purchase.
No, it is not always better to Google something. And, particularly in the case of the Blackberry, Googling wouldn't have accomplished anything.
The reps for cell phone companies, computer manufacturers, etc range from stellar to grossly incompetent. Google and fellow users are much more reliable for troubleshooting.
And my experience of Verizon is, usually, the latter. I'm going to guess you're very young or, at least, considerably younger than I. There was a time when you could actually contact the manufacturer of a product that wasn't working the way it was supposed to and receive competent advice. FWIW, there are still some U.S.-based manufacturers that do this.
Today I spent about two hours trying to upgrade my T-mobile Blackberry with a one year contract. I had a friendly rep who told me I could get a one year contract if I went to the store and they called customer care. Turns out that the rep didn't know what she was talking about, and Tmo only offers two year contracts or no contracts. I like Tmo but I expect even a simple thing like an upgrade to take a while, so I budgeted two hours. I was about right. Yeah, it's frustrating, but not everyone is as smart as we are.

There's a difference between sales and tech support. You were talking to sales (which accounts for the friendly rep). When I contract with a company for a specific service, I expect them to provide it.
