What is the deal with online award booking?

I have been trying to book an YVR-EZE flight for fairly flexible dates in Dec 2010 for two adults in Y. For the YVR-YYZ-EZE routing, any time between Dec 6 and Dec 14, the online tool only offers me elite priority rewards at 100K miles per pax. However, there are plenty of classic rewards at 50K miles per pax for YVR-YYC-YYZ-EZE and YVR-YEG-YYZ-EZE routings, so the YYZ-EZE leg is not the problem.

The YYZ-EZE flight leaves at 23:45. Are they trying to tell me that, for an entire week in december 2010, there is zero classic award availability for any YVR-YYZ flight that gets into YYZ before 21:00? Or is this a scam to try to get me to spend more miles or pay the agent booking fee?
