Though i once did switch seats with a guy travelling with his son (maybe 12 years old)- I gave up my asile for a middle seat...

Another time on UA- there was a blind person and the FA was asking for someone to give up their seat and move to the back (middle seat)--I did as it was the right thing to do- the FA gave me a couple of free scotchs to ease my pain...
And soon.... with AC as with many other airlines, you can perhaps claim you paid a premium for an aisle seat with a call bell!

However, like you Plumber, I would too make the switch to keep a family together. I appreciated earlier this month when a Aisler traded to keep me beside my wife in kids in the three seats across the Aisle.
