Could someone really fly 9.5 million miles in about 25 years?

First, Happy New year to all. I have a question and I am not sure if it belongs on UAL forum, but the discussion was about UA. One of my new friend told me yestarday he has 3 million miles on UA, another 2.5 million on AA and about 2 million points and an AMEX.He said he travelled a total of 9,5 million miles in about 25 years. Honestly, it seems a little too much for me to believe, but you never know. We did not go into details but he was not aware of FLYERTALK.My question is, how many people approached the 10 million miles?
