Actually, he was impressed that I had not used my INSPASS card for non-business travel, and then realized it was he himself that had issued it to me. Based on a later transaction, I suspect he left a beneficial comment about me "somewhere" (where ever they keep those kind of things.)

But this seemed pretty clearly to really be a personal interest line o' questioning. I ran into him a few times over the next couple of years, and he remembered my trip to Egypt. (Never occured to me though to ask if he went.)
