I was once "extensively questioned" by a USINS officer at YVR Pre-Flight Inspection. When asked the purpose of my visit I explained I was actually on my way to Egypt via LAX (re-routed due to a snowstorm). He then asked if I had previously been to Egypt.

I said "yes" and then he proceeded to ask me about the best places to visit, where to stay, what to look out for, what the food was like, and so on. Given there was no one else in the line up, we spent an extended time chatting about being a tourist in Egypt.

He was thinking about visiting himself, but wasn't sure if he'd enjoy it or not. He thanked me several times before I went on my way.
And you didn't even notice you had been given the third degree!
