I am all over the middle east, all of the time, and have been for years. this has never been a problem. In fact, my last time through MIA, it helped speed me through customs, because the inspector apparently assumed I was a returning US military or contractor (there is a HUGE US base in Qatar) and waved me through with a welcoming smile and not so much as a glance at my bags.
