There are other, less intrusive means to scan for these things.
That's a different issue. If a TSA oversteps his or her authority, commits a crime, is lazy, is inefficient, or whatever, that person needs to be fired. And if that means that half of the entire force needs to be fired, then so be it. If the rules under which TSAs operate are illegal, they need to be changed.
