does anyone know if the Citi AAdvantage fee is charged at the same time for everyone or if it different depending on when got card?

I recently got a new application approved in an attempt to get a quick last churn in before cutoff. have never done before but need to know if Citi treats the new application as a new card separate from my already existing one. i.e. would they charge me 2 annual fees, one for each card? if so, i am considering canceling the old one before it gets charged again.
