I'll add a bit more: In stores/restaurants/etc, you will not be asked for your passport. In hotels, you *may* be asked to show your passport upon check-in (regardless that you use your CC or not). This is common practice for foreign nationals visiting other countries.

FYI, make sure to call your bank/card issuer to let them know of your travel plans abroad so that they 'open the card'.
