Yes and i also got screened when i came back from Bangkok with TG a couple of days ago, took 1 minutes so what... you are all too spoiled with Changi airport
Excuse me, I think you have misunderstood my point. I would urge you to re-read my OP.

To repeat "SIN WAS the friendliest airport in the world to arrive". US airports are the worst comparison point, frankly. I was simply questioning WHY this new practise was introduced at SIN and to try to determine what was behind it. It seems that this practise may only apply to non-SQ carriers at T1? It may have taken you only 1 minute to get through the screening but, as I said in my OP, as a result of passengers ahead of me, it took me, literally, ten miniutes to get through on both occasions I had a problem.

To respond specifically, yes I fly through IAD, JFK, MIA, ORD, MCO. LAX, SFO regularly and have NEVER been asked to put bags through a scanner AFTER collection from the belt. The X-Rays and Dogs have normally done their stuff way before the bags appear on the conveyor. Just a view of the customs form with the immigration guy's stamp is enough usually. Straight out. Just like it USED to be in SIN.

Just trying to work out what is going on here?!!
