1. Includes SQ flights. Arrived from Melbourne last week on SQ and most passengers bags were being scanned.
2. I say most bags because it seemed like customs agents were walking around the baggage belt and talking to people randomly, some were given a mark on the customs forms and told to exit through theother door without scanning bags.
3. I was one of the lucky ones who got randomly selected for a no scan exit
4. I ve seen this in many airports and frankly i dont have a problem with it, it sure beats the long lines at US customs where you may get pulled aside and spend hours having your bags turned inside out depending on the mood of the customs agent.
5. cab driver out of the airport, and consider the source, told me that they had some "intelligence tip or threat" and that's why they were scanning most bags more frequently than they used to. cab driver was miffed about the "delays" it was causing and supposedly lost cab revenue
