If you intend on travelling AA frequently next year for personal travel, I would sign up for the platinum challenge. You just need to fly 10k EQPs within a 3-month period which you will hit on that trip alone (although there is a cost of $200, and a whole separate thread dedicated to this at the top of the forum). That will give you a fast track to PLT.
