Option 1 won't work because there is no way to get directly from YYJ to LAX, you have to go through YVR, YYC, or ???. So you are backtracking.
Options 2 and 3 won't work because the open-jaw has to be at either the origin or destination. Since LAX is further from YYZ than YYJ is from YYZ , LAX is considered your destination. So you can't have an open jaw between YYJ and YVR.
So option 4 may be your only choice, if you are determined to make the trip using a 25K award.
I would be interested in hearing whether you were able to book any of your first 3 options over the phone. Let us know.
No, 1-3 could not be booked. They will only allow either a stop or an open jaw, not both. Plus, an open jaw must be shorter in distance then either of the two remaining one ways.
So, I booked cash fare LAX-BUF for $117 CAD. Now just need to figure out the YYZ of BUF --> YYJ and YYJ --> LAX.
Perhaps a couple of nice days in PHX, SAN or LAS from BUF for around $120 with a AE reward into YYJ and returning into LAX.
Any other ideas?
