Could you please explain to me, first, if WBI can detect a sanitary pad and second, how it can differentiate a pad from the underwear bomb? My understanding of MMW is that it has limited penetrability, and, therefore, would not be able to measure the consistency of an object under at least two layers of clothing.

My problem is that the TSA is trying to push WBI for primary screening. I would not object if it was used as a form of secondary screening after a positive explosives test, if the passenger was informed about what is was, if clearly stated that there is an alternative pat-down and if passengers being screened could view the screener and the image generated, and also keep their belongings safe.

What science are you talking about? No one here thinks WBI technology is stupid. I just don't think I should have to be viewed naked by some unknown government worker in a seedy undisclosed location in order to go on an airplane.
