I saw that mailer, too. The fact that MGM is now marketing those rooms to the public proves to me that they have lost status in the high-end gaming market. I remember when the villas were almost mythical, and completely unattainable unless you were an Asian whale. No doubt, for $4000 you will have a wonderful experience. But it won't be the same experience that the guy staying in the king room on the 16th floor is going to have, and he represents the vast majority of guests. Sure, the villa guest at Wynn will also have a higher level of service than the typical Resort room guest, but not as dramatically different, simply because Wynn provides such a great experience to all of their guests. I really do love the Mirage, and appreciate the significant role it played in shaping Vegas over the past 20 years, but it has since been eclipsed by a number of resorts at the high end, e.g., Wynncore, CC, Bellagio, and (I add this grudgingly) VenePalazzo.
