I am holding a ticket booked in a ex-US Z fare SFO>MUC>STR and STR>MUC>SFO return.

I just talked to LH, and they said that 4 transfers are permitted in each direction, but that for each transfer, I'd have to stay in the same "area", but he couldnt really tell me what area meant. Does area mean country? or does it mean europe?

Eg would SFO>MUC>ZRH>VIE>FRA>STR be permitted for the outbound?

Also, does "4 stopovers in each direction" mean 4 connections & 5 flights, or 3 connections & 4 flights?

Also, can I stay 23 hours on each transfer? E.g. if I flew SFO>MUC>ZRH>VIE>FRA>STR, could I stay 23 hours in MUC, 23 hours in ZRH, 23 hours in VIE, and 23 hours in FRA?
